Traditional Sunday Worship Service
π 9:00 a.m. & π 11:00 a.m
Join us in-person in our iconic art-deco Sanctuary for Sunday morning worship! This traditional style of worship includes organ music, prayer, choir anthems, scripture reading, congregational singing from our hymnal, and a sermon from the Senior Pastor. Our youth Chapel Choir sings each Sunday during the 9 a.m. service, while our adult Chancel Choir leads in song during the 11 a.m. service (and if you love to sing, our choirs are always open to new members!) Holy Communion is served the first Sunday of each month, and is open to all.
Sunday communion services
π£ 9:45 a.m. & π 12:05 p.m.
Holy Communion is served the first Sunday of each month in our traditional worship services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., but on other Sundays, you can attend a very brief (10 minutes) Communion service in our Rose Chapel. We celebrate Eucharist with an open table, which means that all are welcome, regardless of membership, age, or difference of any kind. In this spirit of inclusivity and fellowship, we also offer gluten-free communion bread and non-alcoholic grape juice to accommodate dietary restrictions and personal preferences.
Alternative Worship Sunday Service
π 11:00 a.m.
Held every Sunday at 11 a.m. in Boston Avenue’s Jubilee Gym, Alternative Worship at Boston Avenue is a contemporary worship service that blends ancient spiritual practices, liturgical worship, and modern worship into a new and nourishing experience.

Seasonal Worship
Worship at Boston Avenue UMC is a transformative journey through the liturgical seasons to enrich the faith of individuals, families, and our vibrant community.
Join us at Boston Avenue UMC as we embark on this sacred journey, creating cherished memories and growing together in faith, love, and community.
Advent & Christmas
During Advent, we eagerly anticipate the birth of Christ through cherished traditions like the Advent wreath lighting, a performance of Handel’s Messiah from our renowned music ministry, our dynamic and moving Lessons and Carols service, and more. Our Christmas celebrations are filled with the timeless beauty of carols, candlelight services, and the joyous proclamation of Christ’s birth.
Lent & Easter
In the solemnity of Lent, we reflect on Christ’s sacrifice through meaningful worship services, contemplative practices, and engaging community events. Then, experience the power of redemption and the joy of resurrection with Easter services at Boston Avenue. From our traditional Easter celebrations to a family service led by children, there is a space for everyone to celebrate new life in Christ.
Lenten Lecture Series
Usually held during the first weekend of Lent, this series features a distinguished religious speaker or scholar, and has included a variety of outstanding speakers over the years, including bishops, professors, Christian pastors, and Jewish rabbis. Sponsored by our Barton-Clinton-Gordey endowment, this series is one of many ways we encourage our congregation to “think deeply” at Boston Avenue.
