Word of the Week, April 5: Eastertide

Eastertide begins! The Easter Sunday celebration was glorious! But it is not over.

Now we move into the season of Easter, for fifty days. It is designed as a joyous and festive season celebrating God’s love conquering sin and death, offering us life abundant and life eternal. I hope you will plan to attend every Sunday you are able!

Our sermon series is Resurrection Living. We will be reading our gospel texts. This week we will read from John 20:19-31. It is two stories of Jesus appearing to the disciple band after the resurrection. Early in the reading the disciple Thomas is not sure he believes; by the end he is proclaiming Christ as his Lord and God. Join us for the sermon, Ready to Testify.

We will also be celebrating our Confirmation Class for 2024. They have been studying all school year, moving toward this moment in which they stand up and claim their Christian faith for themselves. It is a moment with great magnitude for them and for our church family. We will also be celebrating our fifty-year members as living examples of fulfilling their church vows and a faith lived out over a lifetime!

It is always one of the great worship experiences of the year! I hope you can plan to be with us in person or remotely. Being there for one another in the gathered community of Christ is such an important part of our faith journey. You don’t want to miss out on this blessing!
