Boston Avenue invites YOU to join your voice to this unique, exciting community event on Sunday, April 21 at 5:00 p.m. in the Boston Avenue Sanctuary. Our Chancel Choir and thirty members of the Tulsa Symphony will guide attendees through an unforgettable, eclectic musical journey – beloved hymns, classic folksongs, iconic movie and show tunes, stirring patriotic songs, and timeless pop hits like “Sweet Caroline” and “Hey Jude” will all be part of this artistic, group-karaoke-esq experience. Whether you’re a seasoned vocalist or someone who reserves their singing for the shower, “Tulsa Sings Too” invites YOU to join in the melody.

Chancel Choir member Maggie Duncan is eagerly anticipating the event, sharing, “It’s always fun to lead services and concerts from the choir loft, and I’m looking forward to stepping out of our comfort zone a little with this one! I think audiences will enjoy hearing some familiar songs and getting to be part of the experience by singing along with us.”

If you’ve never sung while accompanied by an orchestra before, this is your chance! Shari Goodwin, member of the Chancel Choir shares, “I always love singing sacred music with an orchestra, and this concert offers a wide range of popular secular music as well. Everyone will get to sing with the orchestra – it should be lots of fun!”

Fellow choir member Mary Duncan concurs, sharing, “As choir members, we get to sing at various times during the year with members of the Tulsa Symphony, but most non-choir members don’t often, if ever, get an opportunity to do so. It is amazing and uplifting! There is a special energy as singers and musicians come together to experience a piece of music with the added colors and textures. For this concert, Joel has picked a wider variety of music that is sure to bring moving and nostalgic feelings for those of us participating.”

Our hope is that this event invites people from across the Tulsa community to connect. Says Chancel Choir member Crystal LaGrone, “I think it’s a great opportunity for those who enjoy singing to get together in our historic building and sing a variety of well-known songs. What could be more fun?” So make sure to invite your friends and neighbors!

Boston Avenue UMC warmly extends an invitation to everyone, regardless of their singing ability, to join in this celebration of music and community. “Tulsa Sings Too” is more than just an event; it’s an experience—a chance to lift your voice, meet new friends, and be a part of something truly special. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of Tulsa’s vibrant community spirit, wrapped in the universal joy of music.
