School of Theology at Emory University and a Doctor of Ministry from St. Paul School of Theology where his dissertation was recognized with distinction.

Dr. Powers previously served as the senior minister at Salem United Methodist Church in Drummond, Piedmont United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Edmond. Immediately prior to his appointment at Boston Avenue, Sam served on the Bishop’s cabinet as a district superintendent of the former Crossroads District (Oklahoma City area). Sam returns to Boston Avenue after being raised here, previously serving on staff as a college intern on the Venture Leadership team in the summers of 1987 and 1988.

Sam seeks to continue his growth in the Fruits of the Spirit and would seek to lead all in their development of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Keith holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Youth Ministry from Oklahoma City University and is a Master of Theological Studies student at Phillips Seminary. He serves as an Associate Minister and Director of Youth Ministries, overseeing middle school and high school faith formation. Outside of work, Keith spends his time doing visual art and following motorsports.

EvaMarie holds a Master of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology and a Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma City University. Currently EvaMarie serves as the Director of our Lifelong Faith Formation Team and the Adult Faith Formation minister and United Women in Faith staff liaison. EvaMarie enjoys playing the clarinet, reading and traveling.

Lisa has served churches in northeast Oklahoma since 2009, including her first appointment to Boston Avenue in 2015 as Assistant to the Senior Pastor/Director of Missions. She was an associate minister at First United Methodist Church of Claremore and senior minister at Turley United Methodist Church, Foyil United Methodist Church, and Adair United Methodist Church. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, and reading.

Evan graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Sacred Music in 2019 from St Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Evan loves making the pipe organ come alive with its myriad colors and dynamics.

Evelyn obtained her associate degree in urban studies from Elim Bible College in Lima, NY. Prior to coming to Boston Avenue, Evelyn worked at a number of non-profit organizations, including All Souls Unitarian Church as their Assistant to Ministers. Drawing on her favorite scripture (Psalm 103:8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love), Evelyn loves serving and helping our members and everyone that comes to Boston Avenue. Outside of Boston Avenue, Evelyn enjoys Reading, Painting (folk art), Baking, Cooking, and building things.

His goal is to ensure that our historic space is set up for current ministry, and maintained for generations to come. Says Cliff, “it’s an honor to work with this staff and at this amazing building.”

She has previously worked as a preschool director and has worked with children ages ranging from 6 weeks to 12 years old. Jessica obtained her associates degree in early childhood education from Community Care College, and has her CDA ( Child Development Associate).

Since 2013, she has served on the directors team, and now leads the Weekday School and Younger Children’s ministries (Birth – 2 years old). Paula earned a BS in Management and Human Services, and MBA from University of Phoenix Tulsa Campus; and holds a Special Needs certification, UM certification in Christian Education and Children’s Ministry from Perkins School of Theology; and in early education, a CDA credential, Master Teacher, and Certificate of Mastery. Paula enjoys traveling with her high school sweetheart, Rodney; spending time with family and friends; going to the movies; reading; cooking; and learning new things!

Sistema Tulsa is a social change through music education program of the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in concert with community partners. He is an alumnus of Texas Christian University (B.M.) and the University of Texas Pan-American (M.M.) He completed professional programs in educational leadership at the New England Conservatory (Abreu Fellow) and the Harvard Graduate School of Education (Leading Change in Education Systems). He serves on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Arts Institute and the Barton-Clinton-Gordey Committee at Boston Avenue church. His musical recording credits include “Piano Devotions: Hymns and Sacred Songs in Classical Settings” on Albany Records.

She has a Bachelors in student ministry from Ozark Christian College and is planning to finish out her Masters of Divinity at Phillips Theological Seminary. In her freetime, Lenox enjoys spending time with her niece and nephew, supporting her beloved Denver Broncos, listening to podcasts, reading books and keeping up with current events.

She came to Boston Avenue UMC from the OKUMC Conference Office where she was the District Administrator for the Crossroads District. Her motto in life is based on Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another…”

She currently serves as Tulsa Theatre Works Director of Operations and Boston Avenue UMC Technical Director.

In her free time, she enjoys reading and listening to true crime podcasts.

In this role, she is responsible for assisting in Youth and Adult Ministry publicity and communications, and assisting in the coordination of Youth and Adult events and weekly activities. Outside of work she loves exploring new places and trying new foods.

She also has a MS in Curriculum and Leadership Studies from Oklahoma State University, and is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Boston University, pursuing a DMA in Music Education. Kelsey is the Director of Education for Sistema Tulsa, and works with educators and students all around the Tulsa area. She grew up in Texas, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Oklahoma. In her (extreme abundance of) free time, Kelsey and her husband have two beautiful children and two pups to keep up with.

For over twenty years Brice has enjoyed his role in maintaining Tulsa’s iconic skyline and improving its buildings’ HVAC comfort and efficiency.
