Like A River

Stewardship
In February 2019 I went with a group from our church to the Holy Land. While in Israel we visited two ancient bodies of water. Both are fed by the Jordan River. In one, fish swim and roots find sustenance; life thrives in that place. In the other, there is no splash of fish, no color from vegetation, nor signs of life. The difference is not in the Jordan, for it empties into both.
So, what is the difference?
In one, the Sea of Galilee, the water flows in one side and out the other. It gives and lives. The other gives out nothing. It is called the Dead Sea.
We are the same. Our life thrives when God’s life flows through us. If it only comes to us, and not through us, it dies. Our theme for this year’s Commitment Campaign is be a giver, like a river.
