As we move into the spring and summer months and the beauty of God’s creation unfolds around us, Boston Avenue offers a reminder about our care of creation with our Blessing of the Animals Event. Scheduled to occur just ahead of Earth Day, our annual “Blessing of the Animals” service will be held on Sunday, April 21 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in Boston Avenue Park. This event is a beautiful way to introduce your friends or family members to our church community, offering joyful fellowship and the shared love for God’s creatures!

This special come-and-go event is a unique opportunity for us to celebrate the love and companionship of our pets – those faithful companions God has entrusted into our care. Whether they bark, purr, squeak, or hiss, all animals are welcome.

In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, this gathering is not just about seeking divine blessings for our furry, scaly, or feathery friends. It’s also about extending our care and compassion to those pets in need. This year, we are collecting items for our pet Blessing Box – we especially need donations of dog food, including canned food with easy-open lids and dry food. Your generous contributions will make a significant difference in the lives of many beloved animal companions.

Blessing of the Animals is a testament to our commitment to all of God’s creation, reflecting our understanding that every creature has a place in God’s heart. We look forward to seeing you and your animal companions on Sunday, April 21 at the Boston Avenue Park!
