First Re-Tool Time at Cookson Hills a Huge Success!

At the first of several planned Re-Tool Times almost 50 volunteers gathered from 10 different churches on the Cookson Hills campus this past Saturday July 25. 

FOOD PANTRY MOVED! Beginning at 9:00 a.m., the Re-Tool Time Team began the process of moving the Cookson Hills Food Pantry from the Cookson Hills campus to the Cookson UMC next door.  Cookson UMC had readied a room not currently being used by the church, painting the walls, and preparing it for use as a food pantry. Shelving, scales, a cooling unit and other food pantry items were moved in preparation for a planned fall re-opening of the food pantry.

INVENTORY OF NUTRITION BUILDING COMPLETED! Others on the Re-Tool Time Team were busy conducting an inventory of all of the assets and items contained in what has traditionally been referred to as the ‘Nutrition Building’ where the Senior Meals and Food Pantry had operated. Trash found its way to a dumpster and other items were inventoried and categorized for either use in ministry or for sale to raise funds.

IKE’S BBQ DONATES RE-TOOL TIME TEAM LUNCH! Ike’s Takeout is a local spot known for great food at a great price with the best, super friendly, and fast service. The menu features consistently delicious down-home cooking. The owners, known for their kind, thoughtful, and generous gestures that build community, DONATED all of the food for a Re-Tool Time Lunch feeding almost 50 people. You cannot go wrong with anything at Ike’s. Like the owners, it is the real deal and a diamond in the rough. Ike’s is located right across the road from Cookson UMC.
