Children
Are loved here
Welcome to Boston Avenue Kids!
Children of all ages are welcomed and loved at Boston Avenue Church, with age-appropriate activities on Sunday mornings and beyond!

A note from Ms. Hope (Director of Children’s Ministries)
At Boston Avenue, we want children to know they are beloved children of God. We provide safe, fun, and meaningful faith-formation opportunities for all children.
There are a variety of settings throughout the year to learn the Christian story, study the Bible, and be Christ’s love in action through missions.
We hope you will join us soon! Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist your family in growing in their faith!

Childcare for Young Children (Under 3)
Boston Avenue UMC recognizes the importance of supporting the spiritual development of the whole family, and offers childcare accordingly. Adults can attend Sunday school classes, worship, and other opportunities while knowing that their young child will be safe, nurtured, and valued by screened and trained adults. Boston Avenue also houses a licensed 3-star childcare center, the Boston Avenue Weekday School. For more information about young children at Boston Avenue UMC, contact Paula Gradney Garner at 918.699.0112, paulagarner@bostonavenue.org.
Sunday Mornings
Throughout the morning, children engage in Sunday School, Children’s Chapel, and music opportunities. Our Sunday School rotations include games, art, cooking, STEM, and storytelling, as we focus on Bible stories, fellowship, and Christian growth. For our youngest children (under 3), childcare provided by screened and trained adults is available.
Schedule
9:50 – 10:40 a.m.: Sunday School
10:40 – Noon: Choir (E215) and Children’s Chapel (E204)
Wednesday Evenings
Join us each Wednesday from 6:15–7 p.m. for our LIFE (Living in Faith Everyday) group opportunity, which provides fun, fellowship, and spiritual growth for pre-K through 5th-grade children. Wednesday night programming at Boston Avenue UMC also includes handbell choir before LIFE group.
Music
We believe that music and the creative arts can be an important part of our spiritual lives, helping us explore and understand God. Boston Avenue offers music opportunities starting at a young age to nourish the spirits and musical gifts of even our smallest singers! On Sunday mornings, children can participate in Cherub Choir (Pre-K-2nd grade) or Chorister Choir (3rd-5th grade), where they learn age-appropriate fundamentals of choral singing. On Wednesday evenings, 3rd-5th graders can be part of the Chorister Ringers, a handbell ensemble. Previous music experience is optional for children to participate in our music programs.
More to explore
Third Grade Bibles
A beloved tradition, children at Boston Avenue receive a personalized Bible when they reach the third grade. In Sunday School, a Third-Grade-Bible Lock-In, and other programs, they learn how to use their Bibles to find and explore scripture. Questions are always encouraged as we help children take a reasoned approach to faith and scripture.
Faithful Families Podcast
“Faithful Families” is a monthly podcast hosted by Hope Wiggs, Boston Avenue’s Children’s Director. The topic of each episode reflects the themes and focus of that month’s elementary Sunday School unit. Recorded with busy families in mind, these podcasts are great to listen to on short car rides to encourage conversations and faith formation as a whole family. Check it out here!
Special events
In addition to our weekly activities and regular programming, there are numerous special events and opportunities for children and families at Boston Avenue, including lock-ins, holiday parties, family movie nights, and parents’ night out. At Easter and Christmas, Boston Avenue holds special services led by the children – it is a beautiful time to celebrate with the whole family!
Camps & Vacation Bible School
Summers with Boston Avenue are full of opportunities to explore God’s world, make new friends, grow in faith, and have a ton of fun! From camps offered by our Oklahoma United Methodist Conference that connects children from across the state, to our own Boston Avenue VBS, we hope your child joins us this summer!
