What is United Methodist Women?
United Methodist Women (UMW) is a group of women within the congregation organized for and committed to mission. We are women like you: women, who are employed, not employed, housewives, businesswomen, single, married, divorced, widowed, young, middle-aged, and older women. Worldwide, we number approximately one million members and raise nearly $25 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children, and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.

UMW Can Do!
What does it mean to be a member of UMW?
A member is one who believes in the purpose of UMW and chooses to participate in the various activities and programs of the organization. At Boston Avenue Church, we have a number of small groups, called circles, which meet monthly.
All members of these circles are part of the Boston Avenue Unit of United Methodist Women which relates directly to district and conference organizations and to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.
Regular UMW Programs at BA
At Boston Avenue, UMW circles meet once a month to study together, support each other in mission, foster spirtitual growth, develop leaders, and advocate for justice. In keeping with our diverse membership, some circles meet during the day, some in the evening, some at the church, and some in members' homes. Please call Margie Herndon at 918.742.6792 or Dolores Ritter at 918.492.6978 to help find a circle that is right for you!
In addition to study and mission work, our Unit hosts an annual membership tea each September and assists with Annual Conference when it meets at Boston Avenue every two years.

Circle E meets the 2nd Thursday from September to May at the church in the Aldersgate Room. We do studies during the year plus have time for good fellowship. We would welcome you with open arms and smiling faces!
UMW Missions at BA
The Boston Avenue Unit of UMW is focused on missions of both a local and global scale. We support several area missions, such as the Cookson Hills Center near Tahlequah, the United Methodist Children’s Home in Tahlequah, and the Boys’ Ranch in Gore, through volunteering and donating resources.
Many have also come to explore the beauty of our friendships while enjoying the beauty of the Frances E. Willard Ministry Center in Tulsa. A home for girls for many years, the Center now hosts retreats, workshops, and the Circle of Care Child S.H.A.R.E. program. The property extends 40 acres, all the way back to the edge of Gilcrease Museum. The Willard Center offers miles of walking trails, as well as a lovely pond - sure to delight anyone who loves to fish!

Circle B was formed in 1989 as a supportive group of women who were in the Sandwich Generation. We strongly support the missions of the church. Our monthly programs consist of a variety of subjects chosen by circle members with lunch out following each meeting and throughout the summer. We invite you to come and join us any 2nd Thursday at 9:30 in the Oxford Room!
To the Woman:
- who finds meaning in her church and is drawn to its fellowship,
- who wants to combine fellowship with study, worship, and outreach opportunities,
- who feels she has gifts that are to be shared with others,
- who seeks a supportive community to affirm her own sense of purpose and commitment to God...
UMW invites you to:
"grow spiritually through worship, Bible Study and prayer, celebrate the person you are becoming in Jesus Christ, develop meaningful and lasting relationships, shere who you are and your gifts, take action and make a difference in your community and the world."
For friendship, fellowship, and opportunities to learn and to serve, consider becoming part of UMW! Please call Margie Herndon at 918.742.6792 or Dolores Ritter at 918.492.6978 to help find a circle that is right for you!

Members of the Joy Circle meet at 9:30 a.m. the 2nd Monday of every month except for June and July. Please join us!
