At Boston Avenue we strive to make everyone feel welcome and nourished by their presence. As part of this effort, we provide Respite Care for parents with handicapped children, as well as worship opportunities and accessibility features and services for the hearing, visually, and physically impaired.

  • Large print worship bulletins are available every Sunday.
  • Closed captioning is available during the live television broadcast of our 11:00 worship service every Sunday.
  • A sign language interpreter signs the 11:00 worship service once a month.
  • Ample handicapped parking spaces are reserved around the church.
  • Ramped entrances and elevators facilitate entry into the church.
  • Extra wheelchairs are available for use inside of the building.

Please contact our church office at 918.583.5181 for more information or if there is something we can do to better facilitate your needs.

Respite Care

The Respite Care program began years ago as a support group for parents of children with handicapping conditions. One of the parents commented that her greatest need was just to have an occasional break from the 24-hour, 7-day-a-week care of her special-needs child.

Respite Care typically meets two Friday evenings a month from 6:30 to 11 p.m. to give parents a "night off." Special-needs children and their siblings are entertained and cared for by professional caregivers and church volunteers so that parents have time to go to dinner and a movie, take care of needed chores, or simply relax in a hot bath. The children have a great time!

Please feel free to contact our Respite Care Coordinator, Donna Sakariason at 918.527.3738 if you have any questions.

Opportunities for the Hearing Impaired

The Ephphatha Class is our adult Sunday School class composed of hearing-impaired adults, with the Bible taught through sign language. The class meets every Sunday in the Oxford Room.

The Deaf Fellowship also meets for fellowship opportunities and missions once a month on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

For more information about our Deaf Ministry, please contact the Rev. Mary Ann Emmons at 918.699.0121.
