Sistema Tulsa Mission Statement:

“To nurture community and improve young people’s lives through the practice of music.”

Sistema Tulsa began in 2015 at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church as an example of a compassionate mission in music. In a short time, our initiative has also become known as an important community program dedicated to enacting social change among underserved communities.

Sistema Tulsa’s long-term vision is to sustain opportunities for an intensive pursuit of musical excellence that, over time, will help children and youth to develop transformative skills that contribute to their success in life.

Through our collaborations with the Tulsa Public Schools, local foundations, and private donors, our initiative provides opportunities in music education free of cost and accessible to all. One hundred students from elementary to high school age participate in children and youth orchestras as well as in chorus throughout the academic year.

For more info on participating or giving financially to the after-school music program, please contact our director, Jose Luis Hernandez, at jlhernandez@bostonavenue.org.
