Mission Trips

Volunteers In Mission

Each year, Boston Avenue's Volunteers-In-Mission Subcommittee selects VIM team members from submitted applications for life-changing missions throughout the United States and the world!

Those chosen attend extensive orientation sessions in preparation for their mission of sharing God's love through word and deed. Their mission trip costs are underwritten in part by the mission endowment earnings, and they are also responsible for presenting reports to the church about their experience.

Past VIM missions have included medical, construction, and/or Vacation Bible School teams to South Africa, Costa Rica, Slovakia, Jamaica, Alaska, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Bolivia, as well as construction missions to the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana and Biloxi, Mississippi.

Several mission teams have been deployed to help with the cleanup in Louisiana and Mississippi following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Mission Trip to Bolivia Scheduled for 2017

A team is now underway on a medical mission trip to Villa Sinai, Bolivia, June 17-24, 2017. The team includes a dentist, optometrist, physician, four registered nurses, medical support members, and translators.

The team is working in Villa Sinai at one of five medical clinics in the area to minister to patients as they come, providing medical, dental and eye care. The cost for the trip is $1,000, which includes airfare, food and lodging. Also included in the trip is a 2-night stay at a hotel and a day of “cultural immersion” outside of the mission work.

Senior High Youth Mission Trips

Each year Boston Avenue Senior High Youth attend missions to various locations. These missions form an important impression on them as they experience life very different from their own and serve God by serving others. Click here to learn more about mission opportunities for senior high youth.
