Leaders in Training


Youth have the opportunity to earn money to pay for any program or camp offered by our church or the conference or district. Once accepted as a LIT, an account is opened and a dollar amount is placed in the account for each hour worked. Our bookkeeper keeps an ongoing record from 6th through 12th grade, which can be accessed by parents and youth upon request.

Registration forms for youth activities generally have a LIT option for youth to check as a way to pay.

Benefits of Youth LIT Program

This program allows youth to make a contribution to the children’s programs sponsors or supervised by the church:

  • It will provide training and give opportunity for youth to grow in skills and in service
  • It will encourage participation of youth in events and trips by helping them increase their trip fund
  • It will increase their knowledge of stewardship and an understanding of the working world

Several positions will be available to youth, in addition to Sunday morning during the 11:00 service:

  • Parent Child Center child care – Thursday evenings
  • Respite Care – Friday evenings
  • Children’s Choir helpers – arranged with Director (must be a member of Chapel Choir)
  • Special Church Programs
  • Summer Children’s Programs ( summer registration form in April)
  • Special Youth Activities (non-childcare) coordinated through the Youth Directors

Qualifications of Youth LIT Applicants:

  • Want to serve the church
  • Able to focus on assigned task
  • Willing to be instructed and learn
  • Communicate pleasant attitude
  • Really enjoy children

Requirements:

  • Must be in the 6th grade through 12th grade for childcare LIT
  • Participate regularly in worship (whether through choir or regular attendance)
  • Participate regularly in Sunday School
  • Participate regularly in DTBA (Wednesday evening youth group)
  • Secure an application from Paula Gradney-Garner with recommendation required from youth directors
  • Yearly training with Paula Gradney-Garner who will make assignments for childcare in the nursery
