BAUMC Adult Sunday School

Boston Avenue offers a variety of Adult Sunday School Classes for many age levels and areas of interest. Leaders use assorted teaching methods and learning activities to challenge and nurture persons in the Christian faith.

Our adult classes represent a wide range of experiences. We have larger classes who enjoy a lecture format and smaller classes that provide opportunity for discussion. We encourage you to visit any classes you find interesting to find the one right for you!

BA Adult Sunday School Classes

Boston Avenue 101 - a four-week class designed for prospective and new members of Boston Avenue or those who simply want to learn some basics of the Christian faith, United Methodism, and Boston Avenue Church. This class meets during May and October of each year. Please visit our BA 101 page for more information.

Pastor's Bible Class - an intensive verse-by-verse study of the Bible for adults of all ages, taught by our Senior Minister, Dr. Mouzon Biggs, Jr., in the Sanctuary.

College Class - a class for young adults aged 18-23 years. Students are welcome any time they're in town.

Cornerstone - a class for singles and couples in their 20's and 30's with and without young children. The class, filled with friendly, welcoming people, offers a great opportunity to get to know other young people in the church. Insightful lecture and discussion classes allow for a thorough exploration of Christianity and the Methodist Church.

New Frontiers Class - a growing mid-size class for couples and singles in their late 20's to early 40's with and without young children. Class emphasis is on Methodism and personal faith development, as well as marriage and family development. Class focuses on outstanding speakers and class discussion, with excellent regular social activities and routine philanthropic mission projects.

Horizons Class - a mid-size class of couples and singles in their 30's and 40's with and without children. Curriculum includes both class discussion and instructor-directed studies of Methodism, world religions and cultures, personal relationships, parenting, and spiritual enrichment. Anyone interested in visiting the class is welcome. The class's social and philanthropic activities are an excellent way to meet others and make new friends.

Seek & Discover Class - a class for both single and married adults in their 30's through 60's, featuring a variety of speakers and topics (discussion is always welcome!), plus class socials and mission opportunities throughout the year. If you "seek" a unique, spirit-filled class, come "discover" what awaits you!

The Seek and Discover Class

Disciples Class - a small class for both single and married adults in their 40's and 50's who are involved with their families and professions. Class focus is on meaningful fellowship and group discussions - thought-provoking topics are presented by class members.

Maranatha Class - a larger class of couples and singles primarily in their 40's and 50's involved with their professions and families. The class offers study, discussion, and social activities in a setting of good, caring fellowship. Audio recordings of Maranatha Sunday School Lessons are now available.

Pilgrimage Class - a class primarily for couples between the ages of 55 and 75, with children, but all interested persons are welcome. Friendly meetings (coffee and donuts weekly!) cover a diverse range of topics, including theological investigation, social concerns, and family living, allowing members to question, challenge, and better understand our faith in the world.

Heritage Class - a class for couples and singles in their late 50's to mid 70's with positive outlooks on life. Lessons are led by a variety of teachers and deal with many different topics, including Bible study and social concerns. The class enjoys monthly socials and welcomes anyone looking for a caring group to join them on Sunday or for any of their other activities.

Homebuilders Class - a class of couples and singles in their upper 50's and above. Lectures and discussions led by a wide range of teachers covering many different study topics as well as the Adult Bible Study Series. The class enjoys regular socials and outreach activities.

Roundtable Class - a class for couples and singles who are "forever 50." Wide range of study topics presented primarily through discussion and lecture. Known as a "caring class" for socials, service projects, and outreach activities. Visitors and new members are always welcome for fun, food, friendship, and fellowship. Audio recordings of Roundtable Class Sunday School Lessons are now available.

New Covenant Class - a larger class of couples and singles in their 60's and above, but all ages are wecome. A panel of teachers made up of retired ministers, active ministers, and outstanding lay leaders present a variety of curriculum based on living in our world. Frequent service projects and social gatherings.

Wesley Fellowship Class - a large class for couples and singles in their late 60's and above. Study topics are chiefly biblical, with lecture and discussion. Periodic social events.

Ephphatha Class - a class composed of hearing-impaired persons, with the Bible taught through sign language. Fellowship opportunities. The Reverend Mary Ann Emmons is the Staff Representative.
